It's always been swimming for us
Myswim is a family-run business that has been operating for more than 25 years across Blacktown, Smithfield, Bass Hill and now Revesby.
Having a family of their own, Cathy and Chris are aware of how important it is to protect children in and around water. That is why they are so passionate and dedicated to teaching children of all ages and abilities how to swim. Their passion has rubbed off on their children, who are involved in the swim school, helping with the day-to-day operations.
Our history
- 1980Chris starts coaching at Padstow Swim School, where he stays for 20 years and coaches many great swimmers, including Ian Thorpe.
- 2000Chris and Cathy open Chris Myers Swim School at Blacktown Aquatic Centre.
- 2005They purchase a swim centre at Smithfield and rename the business Myswim.
- 2012The Smithfield centre is sold.
- 2013Operations at Blacktown conclude.
- 2015Myswim Bass Hill opens inside George Bass School.
- 2021A new adventure begins at Myswim Revesby, inside Broderick Gillawarna School.
Cathy and Chris
Cathy Myers
Cathy has been actively involved in the swimming industry since 2000. She holds full ASCTA Swim Australia and Austswim accreditation for teaching infants, adults, people with a disability and diverse backgrounds, and children at squad level.
She is a Diamond level member of ASCTA Swim Australia, is well known in the swimming community for her passion for making sure every person has the chance to learn to swim, and has presented at several NSW and National ASCTA conferences. Cathy holds a Cert IV in Training and Assessment, which allows her to assess for ASCTA Swim Australia and Austswim and to present ASCTA Swim Australia courses.
Chris Myers
Chris first started coaching in 1980 at Padstow Swim School. He coached many great swimmers there, the most famous of all being Ian Thorpe. After 20 years at Padstow he left to start his own successful business with his business partner and wife, Cathy.
